The Audiolab 6000A is an integrated amplifier featuring separate preamplifier and power amplifiers stages. It’s versatility is ensured by accommodating both analogue and digital inputs, allowing a wide variety of sources to be used. In addition the preamplifier and power amplifier stages can be split, allowing even greater system versatility. The 6000A has Four Analog inputs which include a dedicated phono stage with accurate RIAA equalisation for MM cartridges. Twin digital inputs (coax and optical) provide connections for CD players (for example the 6000CD transport) and computer or network streaming. The coax input accepts signals of up to 192kHz/24-bit. Unusual for an affordable integrated amplifier, the 6000A includes the latest, high-end in DACs. This revolutionary DAC operates at 32-bit level using 8x digital filters and offering up to x256 oversampling. Audiolab engineers have incorporated a Short Delay, Sharp RollOff filter having the characteristic of minimum pass band ripple and group delay along with maximum stop band attenuation. This filter has a very musical character which also minimises stop band noise fed to the analogue amplifier section. All input switching is handled by CMOS switches specially chosen for their transparency and ultra-low distortion. The volume control equals this transparency by using a digitally controlled, switched polysilicon precision resistor ladder with accurate, logarithmic attenuation in 0.5dB steps.
